Robert Martin, LMSW
(810) 206-1077 ext.4

Robert has over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist in the state of Michigan.
This experience has been in a variety of settings (both public and private) with training
in evidence-based techniques.
Robert works with clients from the age of 8 on addressing issues that include
depression, anxiety, school, work, and relationship stress, parenting, chronic pain, life
stage transitions, and end-of-life and spiritual concerns.
A primary focus of Robert’s work over the past 20 years has been the use of mindfulness
techniques to promote healing. Such healing can take place not only within but between
people. Robert has practiced meditation for over twenty years: 10 years exclusively as a
practitioner and student, the past ten years as a practitioner, instructor, and lifetime
student.
Although much of his work has been and still is based on traditional therapy techniques,
Robert has found evidence-based mindfulness techniques to be highly effective in
helping clients understand the sources of emotional, relationship, and physical pain.
These techniques effectively promote the development of constructive ways of
responding to life’s challenges.
Mindfulness skills can lead to a significant reduction in the suffering caused by stress.
They allow better use of our inner resources which leads to a deeper understanding of
ourselves and our world.
By becoming more aware of our negative habit patterns we can learn to disengage from
them. This allows us to better distinguish between our own skillful and harmful
behavior patterns as well as dealing more effectively with the harmful behavior of
others.
With this approach, it is my goal to promote the well-being and happiness of our clients.
